UNIVERSITY & PERSONAL PROJECTS

PROJECT BOUNTY

For my final project at Teesside University, I created a 3rd person hack 'n' slash game similar to From Software's Dark Souls series.

The player controls the Bounty Hunter as he makes his way through an intimidating city filled with aggressive enemies and a powerful boss at the end.

Player mechanics were a huge focus for me on this project. Seeing how much could be done with a single combat style and the ways in which different attacks could be made into combos on-the-spot would help this game to stand out in this popular new genre.

The design and programming for this game was done entirely by myself over a five month period, all developed inside of Unreal Engine 4 with Blueprints.

PROJECT RAID

This four player arena brawler tasks players with using any means necessary to be crowned the victor in a hectic series of arenas. Not only do players have to worry about their opponents, they also have to avoid the deadly hazards unique to each arena.

But then it gets worse: every player has the ability to transform if they are able to keep control of the Transformation Circle for long enough, where they will become the terrifying Grub Grub. That's when the real fun begins...

This game was created by Hex Interactive, a nine person team consisting of designers, artists, and an animator. I was the lead mechanics designer for the project, both creating and then implementing gameplay ideas in Unreal Engine 4.
